Champions.
Assasins/ Mages: They are usually used in the mid lane.(Said who plays Ahri supp.) but it's your choice the lane you choose with them. (Katarina, Lux, Zed, Veigar etc.)

Marksmans: They are usually used in the bot lane, as ADC but some of them can be used on mid lane or in top lane, in mid lane champs like Varus (Like Power of evil) or Ezreal with AP runes, masteries and items. This champ can be used with AP things because it's ''hybrid'' it can be used AP or AD. In the top lane champs like Quinn or Vayne are not bad at all, I remember that in one game there was a Vayne jungle, and it was nice too. Anyway this champs are mostly used in the bot lane. (Ashe, Jinx, Lucian, Caitlyn..)

Fighters: They are used in top lane and jungle, but they are used in mid lane too because there are champs with two roles like zed (Assasin and Fighter) (Riven, Darius, Garen, Irelia, Poppy..)

Tanks: These are mostly used on top lane, in jungle or bot lane as supports. (Supports like: Thresh, Leona, Alistar..) (Top laners like: Malphite, Cho' Gath, Nasus..) (And junglers like Rammus, Skarner, Shyvanna..)

And finally Supports, they are in the bot lane with an ADC and there are two types: Tanky supports (Leona, Braum, Blitzcrank..) or AP supports (Lux, Morgana, Lulu, Karma, Sona..)

After all of this the only thing I need to say it's that any champ can go where it's player wants, it's true that some of them are more viable that others in some lanes, but the most important thing is that you're having fun with the champ you choosed and that you know how to use it.

Jungle.
I think that being jungle it's not easy, I mean, I know you don't need to last hit minions or win a lane, but you need to know how to gank (Help in another lane.) when can you gank and how.
You can also counterjungle your enemy jungle too, but only with some champs that have a good early game.
Another important think it's that you need to smite thinks. If you're doing drake or baron (some jungle monsters which gives a bonus to your team.) and there it's the enemy jungle, he/she can steal it, so you need to smite it better than him to have the bonus.
(Idk, I don't know how to explain this better, play the game if you want to see it.)
In this lane are used fighters, tanks and assasins, you can use almost all the champs here, only if you know how to use them, the only think it's that there are champs which have more facility to do the jungle monsters or gank.

Top lane.
It's the lane which is on the top of the ''rift'' (obviously.)
The champs used in this lanes are usually fighters like Riven, Darius, Fiora...(Not op/broken champs, no, ahha.) Or tanks like Garen.
It's functions are:
Push lanes, alone or with the adc.
Dive to kill someone.
Tank the damage on the team fights.
As I said before, in this lane or in others you can use the champ you want, in top lane often we can see an assasin or an AP champ.

Bot lane.
It's the bottom lane as it says it's name, in this lane, are played two champs/players.
Support and AD carry, a support champ it's usually used to protect it's adc, and sometimes the other players. They care about vision too, they put wards on the ''rift'' which are used to have vision and see what the enemy team is doing.
An adc it's usually a marksman. BUT THEN OUR LOVELY RIOT, PUTS MORDEKAISER LIKE AN ADC WITH NO FKING SENSE AND WE NEED TO INSTA BAN HIM BECAUSE IT'S BROKEN. -Rage quit.- hahaha, okay no. He's principal function it's to farm, and farm..and..farm?

They do the most part of the damage too, like the Mid laners, they only have to stay back in the team fights or stay protected by their supports, if they don't do that or they die the first, there would be no damage, and the team fight will be probably lost.

First of all, we need to know that League of legends is a 5 vs 5 game.
There are 5 possible lanes that you can choose.
Now, I'll talk about the Mid lane.
The Mid lane is the middle lane, as it says in it's name. In each lane, we have especific champions, but you can use the champion that you want.
A Mid laner it's an important piece in the game, he/she has to farm, kill and sometimes carry. They have the most part of the damage too (it can be AP or AD but it's recomended to have an AP mid laner if there is no AP in the team.), so if they die in the team fights or just go bad in their lane maybe the game it's lost.
